I feel like January has been such a busy month for me so far and it’s completely worn me out. I love being productive and making sure I get things done, being bored isn’t really an option for me. I have to admit, I don’t take much time out to look after myself and relax in the process. When I do, it’s certainly rewarding and I don’t feel like getting back into a productive state and do any “work” so to speak. Then again, everyone must feel like that at some point. Something that didn’t help was not having consecutive days off from work, as it would with anyone, this played havoc with my routine, caused me to be quite fatigued with no time to relax. My days soon changed to two days off together which helped a lot. Me being the spontaneous person I am, I decided to start a part time course at university. I did it just in the nick of time and started pretty much the week after I applied. Though this means I’m busier, it’s something I’m doing for myself. So you can imagine how busy my lifestyle is as a full time employee, blogger, content writer and student. After doing everything that needs to be done both outdoors and indoors, I don’t get much ‘me’ time both during the week and the weekend (I tend to leave things like deep cleans, laundry and ironing until the weekend) and I can only relax once everything is clean and tidy – no thanks to my OCD.
Everyone takes their time out to relax in different ways. Mine just so happen to be quite ordinary. In order for me to recuperate, I find myself napping whenever I get the chance (I’m a girl who likes her sleep)! However, sleep isn’t the only thing I love. I also enjoy:
- Reading – I usually like books on philosophy and self care as well as fiction
- A hot bath, you can’t beat a long soak with some lovely essential oils
- Colouring – the adult therapy colouring books are quite good
- Catching up on soaps/reality TV (my guilty pleasures are Eastenders, Coronation Street and Keeping up with the Kardashians)
- Binge watching films
Until recently I’ve never really had a routine that I have committed to. It’s so important to have schedule, especially if you have a busy lifestyle. It’s equally important to ensure that you’re not overdoing it and time out to chill out and whatever you want for your ‘me’ time.
